Remember these tips to avoid catastrophe on Templar’s Day*:

  1. If you see a funeral cortege approach, run.  Don’t let it pass or cross you.
  2. Black cats are not for patting today.
  3. Keep an eye on any 13 month old babies.
  4. Don’t do anything we wouldn’t do.
  5. Don’t go for a trim.
  6. Get out the candles, in case of blackouts.  Residents in South Australia will have them out already…
  7. Don’t fly Aeroflot.  Not this day, nor any other day.
  8. For heaven’s sake don’t be one of 13 at a dinner party – that’s an iron rule that Lord Edgeware should have remembered** and it goes all the way back to that light but portentous snack in Jerusalem
  9. Stay in bed.
  10. Don’t read this post – the author has 13 letters in his name.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do...and that gives you a lot of leeway."

“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do…and that gives you a lot of leeway.”

[*The majority of the Templars in France were all rounded-up, by secret order of Philip IV of France, on Friday 13th, 1307.] [**Agatha Christie’s Lord Edgeware Dies (which is something of a template for Poirot knock-off Closed Casket) was also published as Thirteen at Dinner.]
