Eating Crow

Glenelg v Adelaide (Glenelg Oval) 19 August 2018

An old-fashioned goal-fest at the Bay saw the Tiger forwards cash in – Ian Milera, Lachlan Hosie and Luke Reynolds with 4 apiece, Terry Milera with 2. The Crows started better but missed too many shots with the breeze to carve out a lead. After quarter time, Glenelg simply outran their opponents and were better organised in-mid-field and when rebounding from defence. 11 goals to 5 in the second half sealed a thumping win, a necessary but insufficient requirement to stay alive for the finals. The other thing the Tigers needed was an Eagles win over South Adelaide.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and so, once again, we taste the bitter crow-pie of failure, but the year does not represent work wasted. There is a sense that finally, we have a team. And a good finish in the dead round this week against Sturt wouldn’t hurt.

Glenelg 20. 6 (126) v Adelaide 10.9 (69)
