The Great Aussie Bloke Slim-Down

Why is Lisa Always Wincing? (image by Alpha from Melbourne, Australia)

(by Peter FitzSimons). Like the caring and observant types at TVC, you will have wondered why TV butterfly Lisa Wilkinson always looks ashamed and sad.  We think it could be this:-

Champagne Quotes “Champagne for our real friends and real pain for our sham friends!” (Toast by Francis Bacon) “Always keep a bottle of Champagne in the fridge for special occasions. Sometimes, the special occasion is that you’ve got a bottle of Champagne in the fridge.” (Hester Browne) “Remember gentlemen, it’s not just France we are fighting for, it’s Champagne!” (Winston Churchill) “‘And for wine, mademoiselle? What do you say to champagne?’ Miss Monro said nothing – or everything.” (Agatha Christie, The Big Four)           “Pleasure without Champagne is purely artificial.” (Oscar Wilde) “Champagne! Since Alphutte closed in Adelaide, the only decent Swiss Restaurant in town is this sumptuous, stylish, slurpy Swiss (even the alliteration is properly period) sanctuary from the seventies, a haven of style!  Carpet!  Heavy curtains! Nick Xenophon's Entrance is permanently locked

85 Leicester Street, Parkside, South Australia Confession.  We at TVC frequent The Leicester.  We know the Liar’s bar, the Liar’s Restaurant (complete with witness box), very, very well.  There is also a cozy bistro and the pokies lounge .  Monica and Ian (the hard-working publicans) & Co. greet us with their friendly, witty, knowing, slightly sardonic manner.  You know they’ve seen it all, including a shotgun hold-up and patrons who have completed the Beer Challenge 10 times.  But it is invariably a welcoming and refreshing haven. The famous, enormous ‘schnitties’ (Will you have yours with avocado and cheese?  Or with bulls’ balls [sorry]?) – are,…
