Glenelg Tigers v Adelaide Crows, Glenelg Oval, May 19, 2018

The Adelaide Crows and the AFL in general, continue to show its contempt for the SANFL and true SANFL teams.

The Adelaide reserves team has some fine players, and several of them have been mined for the AFL brand, thereby denuding the team at SANFL level. They are the Crows’ “Organ Farm.”  But it is hard to avoid the thought that they don’t give a damn about the competition at this level, which is why they’re now regarded as ‘The Bye’.  The struggling Bays took the latest advantage of this to defeat the winless Crows, who put up a strong showing early, but only kicked 7 goals to 14 in the last 3 quarters.

Josh Scott (5), Terry and Ian Milera (5, 2) were amongst the goals for the Tigers, as usual, and the local’s defence smothered the high-pedigree Crows attack.

It was a beautiful afternoon, and the Tigers, who are generally regarded as The Queen’s Team, honoured the royal nuptials with a stirring win. The Crows fans stayed away, despite the lovely weather. Perhaps they were nursing sore heads after the AFL teams’ big win Friday night, and spending their footy dollars on a long lunch…

The Varnished Culture enjoyed its own long lunch at The Holdfast Hotel, and saw the home team win! Then home for Beef Wellingtons and a Royal Wedding.  A cultural smorgasbord to savour…

Glenelg 17.8 (110) Adelaide 11.11 (77)
