Mel Gibson’s Bum

The actress Arletty, when chastised over her wartime liaison with a German officer during the Nazi occupation of Paris, pointed out that “My heart is French but my arse is international.”

For some reason, that mad old snarler Mel Gibson, wants us to look at his backside. He displays it for no apparent narrative reason in these films :-

  1. Bird on a Wire
  2. Tequila Sunrise
  3. Gallipoli
  4. Forever Young, and
  5. Several entries in the Lethal Weapon franchise.

He managed to find a doubtful historical pretext in Braveheart, but TVC wonders if possibly he chose to do the film because it allowed him to air his favourite body part.

We don’t know if Aussie/Yankee Mel managed to get his bifurcated loved one on the screen in Year of Living Dangerously, or Mad Max, or Tim, or Hamlet, or Air America, or Conspiracy Theory, or Edge of Darkness….We certainly won’t be watching them to find out, or re-viewing them to remember, but do any of our readers know? We’d like to create a full list of the appearances of the great ranter’s posterior for posterity.
